Enabling two-factor authentication
Viewteam supports two-factor authentication using time-based one-time password (TOTP) to add an extra layer of security.
Note: you will need an authenticator app that support TOTP such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator
To enable two-factor authentication:
- Click on the Profile (your name) dropdown in the navigation menu and click Profile settings
- Click on the Security settings tab
- Under Two-factor authentication, click Enable
- You'll now be shown a QR code used to setup your authenticator app
- Scan the QR code with your authenticator app
- If you can't scan the QR code, you can manually configure your authenticator app using the code shown
- Your authenticator app should now be generating six-digit codes
- Enter a generated code from your authenticator app
- Codes are valid for 30 seconds
- Enter your password
- Click Enable
- Two-factor authentication is now enabled for your account
- Recovery codes are automatically generated, they can be used in the event you lose access to your two-factor authentication device
- Save the generated recovery codes in a safe place to avoid getting locked out of your account
- Once saved, click Done
- You will receive a confirmation email saying two-factor authentication has been activated for your account
- If you are logged in to Viewteam on another session, you will be logged out and will need to login again
