Enabling two-factor authentication

Viewteam supports two-factor authentication using time-based one-time password (TOTP) to add an extra layer of security.


Note: you will need an authenticator app that support TOTP such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator


To enable two-factor authentication:

  • Click on the Profile (your name) dropdown in the navigation menu and click Profile settings

  • Click on the Security settings tab
  • Under Two-factor authentication, click Enable

  • You'll now be shown a QR code used to setup your authenticator app

  • Scan the QR code with your authenticator app
    • If you can't scan the QR code, you can manually configure your authenticator app using the code shown
  • Your authenticator app should now be generating six-digit codes
  • Enter a generated code from your authenticator app
    • Codes are valid for 30 seconds
  • Enter your password
  • Click Enable
  • Two-factor authentication is now enabled for your account
  • Recovery codes are automatically generated, they can be used in the event you lose access to your two-factor authentication device
  • Save the generated recovery codes in a safe place to avoid getting locked out of your account
  • Once saved, click Done

  • You will receive a confirmation email saying two-factor authentication has been activated for your account
  • If you are logged in to Viewteam on another session, you will be logged out and will need to login again
